Mexico City, May 2012. To reassure Mexico’s position in destination weddings and Romance travel, Love Mexico success is taken to a new destination in the US Market: Dallas, with enormous acceptance of the Mexican product, their providers and the country itself, the wedding planners from Dallas and nearby cities, came to learn and very enthusiastically participated in the complete program. Dallas Professionals gave a very remarkable and warm welcome to Quintana Roo’s Governor Mr. Roberto Borge, who visited the event and showed his support to the Romance market in Mexico, giving the wedding planners an explicit support to the great work they do by bringing weddings to Mexico!
And for its 4th year LOVE MEXICO consolidated in the Big Apple, NEW YORK!!! That together with Love Mexico, gets more attractive every year…Love Mexico New York 2012 had a great opening with a group of very selected professionals, speakers and most of all with 30 companies from Mexico with the finest products and representatives that were all day sharing their amazing locations! Everyone was positively surprised when Colin Cowie arrived and prepared a unique presentation on his signature weddings allowing everyone to ask him questions and sharing his experiences in Mexico! That he, together with other speakers such as Bernadette Smith described Mexico as a respectful country, full of a magnificent awareness on the worlds trends and a very open destination to deal every situation with!
Love Mexico is the only specialized symposium and networking event to promote Mexico as a destination for weddings, honeymoons and romantic getaways. Hosted by Minty Castilla and Kitzia Morales owners of the event that brought together more than 180 wedding professionals that attended both Dallas and New York LOVE MEXICO EVENTS!!!! More than 500 wedding professionals received our Mexico Promotions! And more that 180 received a direct education and training program on wedding in Mexico! Every edition of Love Mexico since its beginning has been supported in a very active way as our strong strategic partner the MEXICO TOURISM BOARD, represented by its more that effective office in NY guided by Carmen Laborín, our very passionate and professional colleague, Romance Director and outstanding worker!
We also had a terrific turn out on the Mexican exhibitors bringing the best of the best on destination wedding products! We had a big variety attending the events and sharing more that 30 different options to visit during the expo time where the one on one appointments take place.
One of the biggest highlights and huge asset in this year Love Mexico Events was the amazingly informative presentation of Bernadette Smith, who spoke about “emerging gay and lesbian wedding market” in a very interesting perspective on the The Financial Impact of Gay Marriage. According to Bernadette’s presentation and numbers given directly by her, these are a few bullets on the segment’s potential:
- In June 2006 Forbes estimated that gay marriages can potentially boost the overall wedding industry by $9.5 billion per year.
- Nationwide, gay and lesbian buying power has been estimated at $854 billion in 2011, according to a Witeck-Combs/Packaged Facts survey.
- The median household income of gay and lesbian couples is $86,400 and they spent $70 billion on travel last year, according to the San Francisco-based market research firm Community Marketing Inc.
- There have been approximately 70,000 legal gay marriages in the U.S. since 2004 and another 30,000 around the world, according to the Williams Institute.
